To Ilyana’s family, friends, and everyone mourning her profound loss,

“As the creator of this space, I offer my deepest, unreserved apologies for the unacceptable behavior and disrespectful remarks recently posted here by mea. There is a time and a place for everything, and Ilyana’s memory, her decades of unwavering dedication as a unionist and advocate, and her irreplaceable spirit deserve to be honored with dignity, respect, and peace—especially during a time of collective grief.

It is deeply regrettable that anyone would use this space to cause further pain to those who loved her. Please know that such negativity does not reflect the values of this community, and I am sincerely sorry that her loved ones had to encounter those remarks while remembering her.”

I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone for sharing this article so widely. When I wrote it, I had no idea it would reach this many people—I was simply writing a tribute to my friend to honor all the accomplishments she managed to achieve in her short time on earth. Hearing that her daughters thanked the writer of the piece and hearing people speak of the article at the homegoing service yesterday, means more than words can say. It means that I did right by my friend. While those moments were shared in the post, I am also deeply comforted knowing I still get to keep those personal memories between her and me, as I did not mention my name in the article.

I love you Ilyana.

Very nice tribute for a great unionist. She always had a smile and a very positive attitude. May she rest in peace.
